D55, referred to as the Enigma Code by intelligence agencies, remains a complex enigma to this day. This purpose was to encode German military communications during World War II, and its deviousness made it a formidable barrier for Allied forces. Because of its complexity, D55 was eventually cracked by brilliant mathematicians and codebreakers.
